Dr. Nurun Nabi resigns from the post of President of Muktadhara Foundation

Desk Report: Ekushey Padak-winning writer and freedom fighter Dr. Nurun Nabi has resigned from the post of president of the Muktadhara Foundation. It was unanimously decided that the activities of the foundation would be conducted under his chairmanship until the 2025 book fair. It is worth noting that the convener of the 2025 Muktadhara New York Book Fair is journalist Rokeya Haider.

New York’s cultural front ‘Ekattorer Prohori’ called a meeting to discuss the various programs planned for this year’s book fair. At the meeting, Dr. Nurun Nabi met and exchanged views with a large number of immigrants, including writers, journalists, reciters, freedom fighters, cultural activists, theater professionals, and organizers from New York.

He said at the meeting, “I have tried my best to maintain the unity of the Muktadhara Book Fair. Our demand was only one, that the book fair should move forward by upholding the ideals of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, the values of the great Liberation War, and the non-communal spirit. Which has been going on since its inception. But it is very unfortunate that the Book Fair 2025 has abandoned this spirit and values.”

After detailed discussions in the meeting, it was unanimously decided to organize the ‘Bangabandhu Book Fair’ in New York on the weekend of 24 and 25 May 2025. The responsibilities were assigned to designated persons by distributing them across different sectors.

Dr. Nurun Nabi was unanimously elected as the convener of ‘Bangabandhu Book Fair-2025’ at the meeting. The convening committee will continue to exchange views at various levels of the immigrant community. Convener Dr. Nurun Nabi has made a humble request to everyone to make the ‘Bangabandhu Book Fair’ a success during the Memorial Day Weekend.
